Ben Pearce is a full-time sculptor working in corten steel and living in the Hawkes Bay. In 2003 he graduated with a BFA majoring in sculpture from The Quay School of Arts, Whanganui.
His work is held in prominent private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, UK and USA. He is included in Warwick Brown’s new book Seen this Century featuring 100 contemporary New Zealand artists. His work has been prominently featured at MTG Hawkes Bay, Napier (2009), City Gallery, Wellington (2012), Te Uru (2012), Hastings City Art Gallery (2018), Tauranga Art Gallery (2018), Suter Art Gallery, Nelson (2020).
He has also exhibited in Melbourne (2012) and Germany (2017), received numerous awards including Molly Morpeth Canaday, Fieldays, Wallace Art Awards and was the first recipient of the Hawkes Bay artist targeted fellowship (ARA Trust Award) 2022.
In 2022, he undertook Paper Pals Aotearoa, a large scale four plinth public commission for the Wellington Sculpture Trust, sited outside Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington.
