The eight works in this exhibition are initially based on a theme delineated in "The Missionary Position" exhibition of Sept 11, 2001. The church image has become more formally dynamic and is now kinetic as it rocks to the touch. The carved wood wall works, though still derived from the images of fish hooks and water icons, have taken on colours and surface properties that transcend their original intent. These wall dependant images are clearly post post modernist and no longer depend on any sort of narrative or art theoretical underpinnings to support their visual dynamic.
There is a clear and obvious return to the joys of form, material, process and colour with most of these works evincing a visual dynamism that insistently demands your attention. These are sculptures that you can take at face value, look at, revel in, and respond to without feeling the guilt of the uninitiated. As the author of these works, I hope you have as much fun viewing them as I had making them.
