'For this show I have staged museum exhibits of the Huia bird to arrive at images that include their form and their cast shadows.

I am working within a field of contemporary discourse in New Zealand painting that has used narrative to express our reality and identity. Therefore "Passing Away" is not solely about their appearance as birds it is also about the layers of meaning beneath them as metaphors for ourselves.'
